Mr. Pasternack joined the Codexis Board in 2007. Mr. Pasternack is currently a venture partner at CMEA Ventures, and also serves as Senior Executive Advisor to the Energy, Chemicals, and Pharmaceuticals business at Booz Allen Hamilton. He has had a distinguished career leading development of national energy policy and in advising both large corporations and emerging companies in managing growth. He joined Booz Allen Hamilton in 1976 and served as Senior Vice President and Managing Partner of its San Francisco office until 2005. In addition to his Energy Practice leadership, he was founding Partner of the firm's global Organization and Strategic Leadership Center. From 2005-2007, he served as President and CEO of the Special Olympics. From 1972-76, he served in senior federal government environmental and energy policy positions, first on the senior staff of the President's Council on Environmental Quality, Executive Office of the President, and later as Associate Administrator, Policy and Program Evaluation, Federal Energy Administration (now the Dept. of Energy) and staff director of the President's Energy Resources Council.

Mr. Pasternack is a member of the Board of Directors of BEA Systems, Quantum Corporation, and Symyx Technologies, in addition to Codexis, and as a member of the Board of Trustees of The Cooper Union. He has served as a member of the Advisory Council of Stanford University's Graduate School of Business, a member of the Corporate Advisory Board of USC's Center for Effective Organizations, and member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of Special Olympics. Mr. Pasternack holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from The Cooper Union and a master's degree in systems engineering and operations research from the University of Pennsylvania.
