Codexis Appoints Brian Fenton to Key North American Business Development Role
Redwood City, CA - January 15, 2004
Codexis Inc. today announced the appointment of Brian Fenton to the position of Associate Director Business Development, North America.
Based strategically in the Northeast biopharmaceutical corridor, Mr. Fenton will be responsible for establishing new business relationships with industry leaders in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors, as well as managing Codexis’ principal North American partnerships that include Eli Lilly and Pfizer.
Prior to joining Codexis, Mr. Fenton was a key member in the global technology licensing and new business development activities of Abbott Bioresearch Center (ABC) in Worcester, Mass., part of Abbott Laboratories. In this capacity, Mr. Fenton led the strategy, formation and execution of strategic partnering in the area of biologics contract manufacturing at ABC. He also co-chaired ABC’s Antibody Platform Strategy Team and was responsible for several successful research and commercial agreements including Abbott’s gene switching technology and other proprietary intellectual property.
Prior to joining ABC, Mr. Fenton held senior business and process development roles over an eight-year period with BASF Bioresearch Corporation, having begun his career at Biopure Corporation in Boston.

Mr. Fenton holds a MSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Virginia and a MBA from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He has been a co-chair in the Business Development Committee of the Massachusetts Biotech Council for the last five years.
