Over the last few years increasing attention has been paid to greenhouse gas emissions and their effect on climate change. As a result, a growing number of manufacturers are meeting the demand for sustainable products by implementing low carbon manufacturing processes by reducing energy use. In doing so, many are discovering that clean technology can improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce production costs, and enhance brand value. The low carbon economy is not only good for the environment, it's good for the bottom line.

Legacy Green Chemistry

Green Chemistry Recognized by the EPA

Codexis has a track record of successfully developing green chemical processes for leading pharmaceutical and chemical companies. In June 2006, Codexis received a U.S. EPA Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award for development of a biocatalytic process that greatly improved speed, safety and efficiency for the manufacture of a key chiral building block used in the production of the world's largest-selling drug for treatment of high cholesterol. The new process has also reduced waste, solvent usage, energy consumption, and the need for specialized manufacturing equipment.
